Take care of your BOKUcard. If your BOKUcard is lost or stolen, then other persons might be able to access your personal data or to do some damage with this "stolen identity".

Lost or stolen BOKUcard

If your BOKUcard gets lost or stolen, please inform the Students registration office ("Studienservices") studienservices(at)boku.ac.at  as fast as possible and ask them to lock your BOKUcard. Then you can get a new BOKUcard with the following procedure:

  • Go to a police station and get an official confirmation that you BOKUcard was lost or stolen ("Verlustmeldung" or "Diebstahlmeldung").
  • Go to the students registration office with the confirmation of the police, with an official personal id card with your picture on it: https://boku.ac.at/en/study-services   
  • The students registration office will generate a new BOKUcard for you.
  • For the replacement of the BOKUcard in case of loss / theft a fee of 20 Euro will be charged.
  • This new BOKUcard ist invalid. You have to activate your BOKUcard again, i.e. to make it valid for the current semester

Damaged / defective BOKUcard

If your BOKUcard does not work correctly any more:

  • Go to the students registration office with your old, broken BOKUcard: https://boku.ac.at/en/study-services 
  • The students registration office will generate a new BOKUcard for you. You have to return the old, broken card, and you get the new BOKUcard.
  • For the replacement of the BOKUcard in case of defect a fee of 30 Euro will be charged from the second exchange.
  • This new BOKUcard ist invalid. You have to activate your BOKUcard again, i.e. to make it valid for the current semester.

Name change

If your name has changed (e.g. due to marriage), please proceed as follows:

  • Come with your old BOKUcard to the Study Services: https://boku.ac.at/en/study-services  and show proof of the name change (e.g. marriage certificate).
  • Study Services will generate a new BOKUcard for you and withdraw the old card.
  • There is no fee for the reissue of the BOKUcard in case of a name change.
  • You must then activate the new card again yourself, i.e. make it valid for the semester
