Brief Description
Compulsory pre-registration as a requirement for the admission to an academic study program
Prior to your initial admission to a university degree program at BOKU, an online pre-registration via the internet is required. You can register from your own PC at home or at one of the information terminals at BOKU (also directly next to the Student Registration Office - Studienservices).
If you have previously studied at BOKU, a pre-registration is not required. Your data has already been recorded into the system (e.g. transition from a Bachelor to a Master degree program, etc.)
The application is available in German and English.
When can I pre-register for studies?
The deadlines for pre-registration and admission to a study program at BOKU can be found in the time table of the Study Services.
You can register for an account outside of the deadlines, but pre-registration itself can only be done during the given deadlines.

What to do next ...
These are the steps following your pre-registration:
- Admission to a study program at the Student Registration Office (Studienservices) (during the actual admission period): https://boku.ac.at/en/study-services
- Payment of the student union fee and the student fee ("Studienbeitrag") respectively.
- Activation of your IT account using the PIN code you received at the Studienservices: https://short.boku.ac.at/it-activate-account

Information on the photo ...
Your student card is an official identification document. Accordingly, the same rules apply for selecting the photo to be used. The person must be clearly recognizable and not be wearing any headgear (caps, hoods, etc.). The photo must be taken from the front and show the entire head; anything below the shoulders cannot be included in the picture. Pre-registration for non-Austrian citizens
If you have acquired your higher education entrance qualification (general qualification for university entrance, university entrance qualification) in another state than Austria, please select "25 Foreign school leaving examination" from the list for the school type.
You can then select the correct country of issue (e.g. Germany, France, etc.).
Pre-registration for (former) BOKU students
If you have already studied at BOKU, please contact the Study Services.
Pre-registration for BOKU staff
If you are a BOKU staff member, you can pre-register after logging in to BOKUonline at the level of the respective organisational unit. To do so, click on the link "Pre-registration for studies". The remaining steps are the same as in the pre-registration for students.
