Notebook Rental

You are a BOKU member and need a notebook for a few days? No problem!

Who does this service address?

This service exclusively addresses all members (staff and students) of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.

How much does the rental cost?

The cost is € 5.00 per calendar day from the 15th day of borrowing.
The first 14 calendar days are free of charge.

Which devices are available?

  • Available devices (incl. information on hardware and installed software)
    (information only in German)

How to make a reservation?

The reservation can be made via the IT office. You can either reserve via email at boku-it.sek(at)boku.ac.at or via phone +43 1 47654-210.

We require the following information:

from BOKU staff members:

  • First and last name
  • Organizational unit
  • Telephone number / email address
  • Reservation period (from when until when?)
  • Cost center or number of internal order respectively (if payment is not made in cash)

from BOKU students:

  • First and last name
  • Matriculation number
  • Telephone number / email address
  • Reservation period (from when until when?)
  • Please show your BOKUcard upon collection of the device

Recommended Measures Prior to Use

Please make sure that battery is charged if you want the notebook to run on battery power. Furthermore, we recommend connecting the notebook to the internet prior to using it in a lecture room so that any available updates (operation system and virus scanner) can be installed within a timely manner.

If you need to log in to services with BOKU Single Sign-on (SSO), such as VPN, BOKUonline or BOKUlearn, please note that you need an additional MFA factor for this. This can be an authenticator app, a recovery code or a FIDO2 key.

Device Pickup and Return

The collection and return of the devices is done by the borrower exclusively at the BOKU-IT secretariat (Exnerhaus, EG/38, Peter-Jordan-Str. 82, 1190 Vienna) and only after prior appointment with the BOKU-IT secretariat!

Pickup or return at any other IT location as well as delivery is NOT possible.

Loan Period

We ask you to abide by the loan period agreed upon so that your colleagues can also pick up the notebook at their agreed upon time. If necessary, the loan period can be extended - provided that there is no other reservation for the device. Please inform the IT office as soon as possible prior to the originally planned return date. The maximum loan period is one month. In the event of any non-agreed upon extension, fees are calculated until the date at which the device is returned!

Payment

Payment is made when returning the device either in cash or by invoice via the institute. In the latter case, the respective burden center or number of internal order has to be provided. Students who want to rent a device on institution costs need a confirmation form of the head of the institute (a short email is sufficient). Please note that we do not accept payment forms or ATM cards for payment of the device.

Liability for Damages or Loss

For expense reasons, the notebooks are not insured. In case of loss or damage occurring due to improper handling the renter carries exclusive liability.
