Use of the soy protein concentrate DANPRO A in milk replacers for veal calves

Summary

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of the use of the soy protein concentrate DANPRO A as an alternative protein source in milk replacer for rais mg veal calves. Apparent digestibility of the nutrients, fattening performance and meat quality were judged. 48 female Simmental calves were used for the experiment, with an average weight of 93 kg each. A description of the experiment and the most relevant results of fattening performance are given in the following table. A partial replacement of skim milk powder by the soy protein concentrate DANPRO A as well as a higher percentage of whey products led to only coincidental differences between the two groups in the most relevant performance characteristics. Key-words: calf-fattening, milk replacer, soybean protein.
