Influence of Variety and Environment on the Spectrum of Glucosinolates in Rape-Seed

Summary

The level of total glucosinolates and the spectrum of glucosinolates in rapeseed were analysed during the harvests 1999, 2000 and 2001 by HPLC. A significant influence of the year on the total glucosinolate level was observed, which concerned all glucosinolates to approximately the same extent. Much more significant was the interrelation between the level of glucosinolates and the variety. It was evident, that the variety influenced mostly the alkenyl-glucosinolates Progoitrin and Gluconapin. The level of 4-Hydroxy-Glucobrassicin was more or less not influenced by the variety. According to the results presented there was no influence of the location. Other glucosinolates than the ones mentioned above were only found in amounts not able to influence the total level of glucosinolates significantly. Key words: Glucosinolates, Rape-seed.
