Use of 00-rape seed meal in the supplementary feed to corn cob mix for pig fattening

Summary

A pig fattening trial was conducted using two groups with 112 pigs total (eight boxes with 14 animals each) at a practical farm. The ration of the control group consisted of 24 % supplementary feed and 76 % corn cob mix. The ration of the experimental group consisted of 28 % supplementary feed and 72 % corn cob mix. The fattening period started at 27 kg and ended with 105 kg live weight. The use of 00-rape seed meal caused 8 % lower daily weight gain and 6 % higher feed conversion in comparison with the control group. The differences between the groups in quality of meat, fat and carcass yield were not significant. Key words: pigfattening, corn cob mix, 00-rape seed meal, meat quality.
