Distribution of Radionuclides 137Cs and 90Sr in different fractions of flour and whole wheat kernels

Summary

The activity of 90Sr in cereals has diminished to 0,31 Bq/kg, or similar like before the accident of Chernobyl and the one of 137Cs has decreased to less man 0,16 Bq/kg in 1995. These traces are usually detected by γ-spectrometry and the application of measuring times of up to 200.000 sec. The level of 90Sr-activity is mainly influenced by the traces of the bomb-fallout in the 50th and 60th The concentration of 90Sr in the flour fractions and in bran is correlated directly with the ash-content (r =0,92). Key words: Chemobyl, isotopes, cereals, flour, actual situation.
