Integrated disaster risk management – the Swedish experience

Disaster Risk Management has gained increased interest because of the high degree of interconnectedness in modern society, and to meet overarching objectives about sustainability and resilience. Different examples of DRM from a Nordic context are presented and will be discussed.

 

Lars Nyberg holds a professorship in Risk and Environmental Studies and was head of the Centre for Climate and Security at Karlstad University. His professional focus is on social science and interdisciplinary issues in risk research, with a particular focus on climate change impacts and current challenges in Swedish Civil Defence.

Internationales Symposium INTERPRAEVENT 2024 - Wien, Österreich

In 2024, the international conference will take place for the ninth time in Austria and for the first time in Vienna. INTERPRAEVENT 2024 will take place from June 10 to 13, 2024 at the Hofburg Vienna Conference Center.

The INTERPRAEVENT conference is the specialist congress in the field of natural hazard protection. The first conference was held in Austria in 1967. Since 2000, the conference has been held every two years, alternating between Europe and the Pacific region. Thanks to its interdisciplinary approach, the congress has always combined research and practice.
