Influence of different P- and N-fertilization on nutrient uptake and yield of vicie faba

Summary

A three year study with potted plants was conducted to investigate the influence of different levels of P/N-fertilization on yield and nutrient uptake in broad bean (Vicia jaba). P-fertilization had a much more pronounced effect than N-fertilization. Mean yield increase as affected by P-fertilization was 6.42 g grain/pot (21.6 %) and increase in P-uptake of 40,2 mg/pot (51.2 %), compared to the control. The effect of 220 mg P/pot as local application was equal to that of 440 mg P/pot with the soil mix. There were high levels of nitrogen fixation: 2655 mg N-uptake/pot (531 mg/plant) in the presence, and 2130 mg N-uptake/pot (355 mg/plant) in the absence of P-fertilization. Key-words: P-N-applications, nutrient uptake, yield, vicia faba.
