Guest Lecturer Virginie Le Masson visiting

MSc PhD Virginie Le Masson - research officer at the Overseas Development Institute, London- will visit the Institute of Landscape Planning on November 17th. In the courses 'Gender and Diversity Aspects in planning and practise' and 'Project on spatial development' she will share her expertise and her international experiences in the field of gender aspects in disaster risk reduction. 

On November 17th at 17:30 she will hold a public talk  with the title 'Why gender matters for disaster risk reduction?’. Research officer with a PhD in human geography, working with the Social Development and Climate and Environment programmes at ODI. Research interests combine social and gender aspects of environmental issues; Gender-Based Violence and Women’s Rights; Disaster Risk Reduction; Climate change mitigation and adaptation. Extensive fieldwork experiences in India, Indian Ocean and the Philippines, and regular assignments in both south Asia and Africa. Solid expertise in delivering high quality field-based research and vulnerability assessments. Substantial experience in engaging with civil society organisations and donors (including local NGOs, Red Cross/Red Crescent and international organisations).
