Wood represents one of the most ecologic and efficient materials regarding production, use, and recycling, but the current material utilization factor is low. Digital design and production technologies may significantly improve the productivity of wood structures through the fabrication of highly resource efficient structures and connections in a novel way. Optimizing such structures often results in a complex geometry of the building components, which can be difficult to produce with traditional techniques. Our approach uses numerically controlled mills and robots with high machining flexibility to realize these structures.
