How to apply

To apply for an Erasmus+ International Mobility Scholarship at BOKU, please follow the application procedure at your home institution.


Information for PhD: If you have already established contact with a supervisor at BOKU, please forward their confirmation of supervision to your Erasmus+ International Mobility coordinator at BOKU.

All nominated students will have to sign a Grant Award Agreement at the partner university. For accreditation of your courses abroad at your home university you will have to fill in the application form and Learning Agreement before you start your exchange semester.

Information on personal data processing

For people with special needs, support of additional costs is possible. Find more information here (in German only - for more information ask your coordinator at BOKU) .

Application Visa/Residence permit

As soon as you have received your admission letter from BOKU via e-mail/post, you will have to start the application procedure for a visa (< 6 months) or residence permit (> 6 months). More info can be found here: Entry and Residence Permits (visa)

Please keep in mind, that the application can take up to several months!  We recommend to provide all necessary documents as soon as possible. Here you can find the address of the next Austrian Embassy: Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs

Since this process can take very long, we ask you to stay in contact with your BOKU coordinator and supervisor and keep them updated on any progress.

Possibility of appeal

Appeal process for applicants whose Erasmus+ incoming application at BOKU has not been accepted

Applicants can contact their Erasmus+ Incoming Coordinators within 7 days after receiving the rejection letter with an appeal if they believe that their application has been unlawfully rejected.

In this case, the applicant must send an email with detailed reasons to erasmus.mundus2(at)boku.ac.at. The Erasmus+ Incoming Coordinators will deal with this appeal as soon as possible. It should be noted that applications are usually rejected if the admission requirements for a temporary admission are not met or if documents submitted are incomplete.
