The collective agreement for university employees created a career model with the career position, which was immediately implemented at BOKU.

The number and specialization of career positions at BOKU are determined at an early stage in the course of personnel planning. Holders of a career position acquire an assistant professorship through the conclusion of a qualification agreement, and an associate professor through the achievement of the agreed qualification goals, which is counted as a professorship under organizational law through a corresponding regulation in the University Act (§ 99 para. 5).

The content of a qualification agreement and also the procedure for filling a career position are regulated at BOKU in a guideline:

Procedural guideline for career positions (only in German available)

Standards for a qualification agreement at Boku  (only in German available)

A Qualification Advisory Board ensures a uniform quality standard throughout the university in case of subject-specific differences and regularly reviews the progress of the qualification of all career position holders.
