The 2nd Conference of the European Association on Quality Control of Bridges and Structures – EUROSTRUCT2023 – will take place from 27-29 September 2023 at the University of Natural Resources and Life-Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria., devoted to the research and development of sustainable and environmentally-friendly solutions, as well as equipping its graduates with the skills to implement and further sustainable approaches to problem-solving.

The objectives of EUROSTRUCT 2023 are to address all aspects of quality control plans in bridges and tunnels’ safety and management, integrating the most recent knowledge on performance assessment procedures with the adoption of specific goals.

Specifically:

  • Bridge repair and rehabilitation issues
  • Bridge management systems
  • Needs of bridge owners
  • Strategies as to how to incorporate sustainability & climate change issues into the design, construction, operation, and quality control plans in bridges safety and management
  • Implications and applications of Big Data and AI in the management – quality control

EUROSTRUCT 2023 aims to act as a forum for academics, practitioners, owners, and operators to discuss recent advances and identify future research directions.

290 abstracts were submitted from more than 35 countries in the Call for Papers for EuroStruct 2023 of which 210 were selected for final publication as technical papers and for presentation. The areas addressed include aging of structures, deterioration modelling, durable materials, earthquake and accidental loadings, sustainability, fatigue and damage, structure-environment interaction, design for durability, failure analysis and risk prevention, lifetime structural optimisation, long-term performance analysis, performance-based design, service life prediction, time-variant reliability, uncertainty modelling, damage identification, field testing, health monitoring, inspection and evaluation, rehabilitation techniques, strengthening and repair, structural integrity, decision making processes, human factors in life-cycle engineering, life-cycle cost models, lifetime risk analysis and optimisation, whole life costing, artificial intelligence methods, bridges and viaducts, high-rise buildings, offshore structures, precast systems, runway and highway pavements as well as tunnels and underground structures.
