LWM specific fellowships 2024

If you intend to apply for the 2024 ADC fellowship for LWM, your IPGL application profile has to be complete before 26th February 2024 and your application for admission at IHE Delft hast do be submitted by 7th April 2024 at the latest!

Austrian Development Cooperation LWM Fellowship

  • Fellowships are given with priority to applicants from the following countries:
    Albania, Armenia, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Georgia, Kenya, Kosovo, Moldova, Mozambique and Palestinian Territories and Uganda.

    If you are not from one of the countries listed above, you may still apply!

Partial Scholarships (for self-paying students)

Hardship Scholarship

Offers a 25% reduction of the tuition fee to self-paying, academically admitted applicants who do not have sufficient financial means to cover their study costs.

Total costs of 21-months LWM MSc Programme with "Hardship Scholarship": between EUR 29,505.- and 44,992.- depending whether the the research period & graduation is taking place at Egerton University, BOKU or IHE Delft.

Applications are handled on ‘first come, first served’, ongoing basis. Applicants for this scholarship have to confirm and prove that they do have sufficient means to cover the remaining cost for fees and living expenses. After this has been confirmed, they receive an invoice for payment of the reduced tuition fee plus insurance and residence permit costs.

Water Leader Scholarship

Offers a 40% reduction of the tuition fee to self-paying, academically admitted applicants with excellent (academic) background1  who do not have sufficient financial means to cover their study costs.

Total costs of 21-months LWM MSc Programme with "Water Leader Scholarship": between EUR 27,504.- and 41,077.- depending whether the the research period & graduation is taking place at Egerton University, BOKU or IHE Delft.

Applications are handled on ‘first come, first served’, ongoing basis. Applicants for this scholarship have to confirm and prove that they do have sufficient means to cover the remaining cost for fees and living expenses. After this has been confirmed, they receive an invoice for payment of the reduced tuition fee plus insurance and residence permit costs.

 1Selection criteria: a combination of the following criteria may apply: excellent academic background (high BSc/MSc GPA, relevant BSc/MSc major for the LWM programme, relevant work experience, strong motivation, good recommendations.

Early Bird discount for self-paying students

Offers a 10% discount on the tuition fee to self-paying applicants whose payment is received before 1 June 2024. The 10% Early Bird discount can be combined with an LWM Partial Scholarship. In these cases, the discount applies on the already reduced tuition fee of the awarded scholarship.


General criteria for LWM Partial Scholarships for self-paying students:

  • Scholarships will be awarded on rolling basis until the scholarship budget is finished

  • The Hardship Scholarship cannot be combined with the Water Leader Scholarship.

  • If an applicant is awarded a LWM Partial scholarship or given the Early Bird discount and this applicant later on is awarded another scholarship, the already paid tuition fee will be paid back to the applicant and the LWM scholarship will be withdrawn.

  • All total costs stated do include all tuition fees, accommodation & living costs, insurance, visa & residence permit for the whole 21 months study period. Not included are eventual flight/travel-costs to obtain a visa for Austria, the actual flight/travel-costs to BOKU and travel costs from Austria to Netherlands, from Netherlands to Kenya, all travel costs related to the MSc research period and the travel/flight-costs to the participants home country after the graduation.
