The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna stands for research into and communication of the sustainable use of natural resources. In doing so, it wants to contribute to securing the natural foundations of life for future generations. As a responsible university, it is important to the BOKU to actively contribute to protecting the environment and thus to develop into a sustainable organization. The BOKU's environmental guidelines therefore provide for the conservation of natural resources through operational ecological measures, the promotion of environmentally conscious thinking and action, building and renovation according to ecological criteria as well as ecological procurement, and in particular research and teaching for sustainable development. The BOKU staff unit for environmental and sustainability management deals with the continuous improvement of BOKU's environmental performance.
In addition, there is at least one environmental contact person (EAP) available at the department level or at each BOKU location, with whom there is feedback on the need for environmental measures and their implementation.
