Ilias Nikolits - Curriculum Vitae

Ilias Nikolits studied at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece in the school of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering and received his bachelor degree with specialization in Materials Science and Engineering in 2016. Then he continued with the master degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Technical University of Delft, Netherlands in 2019 with specialization in Biomaterials and Tissue Biomechanics. During his master studies he worked for a year as an intern in the Orthopedics Department of Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. His master thesis was based on an endogenous stem cell regeneration approach of cartilage defects, using tissue engineering biomaterials. During his research, he focused on assessing in vitro the chondrogenic differentiation potential of primary synovial mesenchymal stem cells, encapsulated in a hydrogel.
In 2020 he joined the AG Kasper at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences to work on the development of a scaffold platform for in vitro 3D culture of stem cells than can biomimetically support stem cell growth and differentiation, with potential applications in disease modeling and regenerative medicine.
