Application period

Applications for traineeship grants in the academic year 2023/24 can be submitted from October 2023 onwards (for traineeships with start dates on 1 November 2023 or later).

Traineeship requirements

In order to be eligible to apply for an Erasmus+ grant, you need to have a full admission at BOKU and need to fulfil the following requirements:

  • Completion of at least the first year of an undergraduate programme at the time of the Erasmus+ traineeship
  • Completeion of a minimum of 20-30 ECTS of BOKU courses (from the same study programme or a BOKU Bachelor). The minimum amount of ECTS does not apply for PhDs at BOKU.
  • GPA not more than 2.8
  • Proof of language proficiency (in the working language)

Every student can receive 12 months of Erasmus+ grant per study cycle (bachelor, master, phD). These 12 months can be used for an Erasmus+ placement grant and/or an Erasmus+ study grant. If you have already received an Erasmus grant in the past (for placement or study) in the same study cycle, this time span has to be deducted from the 12 months.

Please, read the infosheet before you start your Erasmus+ traineeship (only German version available).

To get an Erasmus+ scholarship age, nationality, duration of study, … do not matter.
There is also no limit as to how much you are allowed to earn.

Please, be aware, that there is no legal claim to the scholarship. The award is dependent on budget availability!

You can not request a leave at the Study Services office as you need to be fully enrolled at BOKU during your Erasmus+ Traineeship stay. But tuition fees can be waived if the traineeship takes place during semester time (Exception: internships of recent graduates). The ÖH-fee has to paid. See also waiver of tuition fees
