Univ.-Prof.in MMag.a Dr.in Eva Schulev-Steindl, LL.M.

Eva Schulev-Steindl has taken up the position of Rector of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna as of February 1, 2022, and has thus returned to the Alma Mater Viridis, where she already held a professorship for law from 2008-2014.

She studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU, Mag.rer.soc.oec. 1984) and law at the University of Vienna (Dr.iur.1992) as well as at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LL.M 1989). In 2003 she habilitated in Public Law at the University of Vienna, where she was Associate Professor from 2004-2007. After visiting professorships at WU (2007) and the University of Klagenfurt (2010) and her professorship at BOKU, she was Professor of Public Law and Business Law from 2014-2022 and since 2019 Vice Dean at the Faculty of Law of the University of Graz. She is also Vice-President of the Austrian Commission of Jurists (ÖJK) and was a board member of the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria (AQ Austria), which is responsible for quality assessment in the Austrian higher education sector, from 2005 to 2022.

In recent years, Eva Schulev-Steindl has focused particularly on legal issues of climate protection, co-founding, among others, the Climate Law Working Group established at the Climate Change Centre Austria and the Climate and Air Quality Commission (KKL) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). At the University of Graz, she established the research center for climate law ClimLaw: Graz in 2020.

Her previous roles as a renowned university professor and university official confirm her expertise in university management, with transparency, communication and participation being key concerns.
